The new Reclaim, Restore, Renovate edition of Urban Home Magazine just hit the shelves! Check it out. There’s an article about us on page 24. The article is titled, “Touching the Past Embracing the Future.” The entire edition is very informative. There’s also information regarding the NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes coming up in October.

Monday we started a new project on St. Johns on a home that was constructed in 1955. I know some of you will find this hard to believe but that house is even older than I am. 
We are remodeling the kitchen, dining room and a bathroom. The demolition was done on Monday. The plumbing rough in was completed yesterday and today the electrical is being roughed in. Of course, as was to be expected in a house of this age, we found some rotten wood, no insulation in the walls and some framing members right where the old venthood was supposed to have been vented out but wasn’t. It’s always interesting to see what you are going to find that you completely didn’t expect when you open up walls. Oh, we also found a hole behind the mirror in the bathroom where a medicine cabinet used to be and two holes behind the paneling where the old in-wall heaters were.
So, if you are considering a remodel, just remember the day of demolition surprises are bound to be uncovered.

JNA Construction has been accepted as a builder in the NARI Tour of Remodeled Homes in October. We will keep you updated regarding the details.
